Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Freestone County Times Tuesday June 9, 2009 Betty Ann (Gehrels) Clary Funeral services for Mrs.Betty Ann Clary, 76, was held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Tabernacle Church in Dew. Bro. Bo Davis officiated. Interment followed the services at Dew Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday with the family present from 6:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Clary passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2009, at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. She was born and raised in Freestone County in the Burleson Hill Community and married John David Clary on May 3, 1947. She lived in the Houston area with her husband for some thirty years before returning to Burleson Hill in 1983. Mrs. Clary loved to garden, grow flowers, and travel, especially the numerous trips she took to Colorado. She was a very dedicated homemaker, mother, and grandmother and spent much of her life caring for sick and elderly family members. Mrs. Clary was a member of Grace Tabernacle Church in Dew and was very active in the Prayer Line Ministry, spending many hours calling other church members with prayer requests. She is survived by her husband of over sixty-two years, John David Clary of Burleson Hill; two sons, Kerry Wayne Clary & wife Donna of Deer Park and Melvin Ray Clary & wife Beverly of Cypress; five grandchildren, Jeff Clary & wife Dana, Stephanie Rider & husband Mike, Laura Cargill, Robin Victorian & husband Terry, and Jennifer Baker & husband Brian; eleven greatgrandchildren; one sister, Dott DeBorde of San Antonio; numerous other relatives and friends. Mrs. Clary was preceded in death by two brothers, William Gehrels and Wilbert (Opossum) Gehrels. ================================= Fairfield Recorder newspaper June 11, 2009 Betty Ann (Gehrels) Clary Funeral services were held Tuesday for Betty Clary, 76, of Burleson Hill who died Sunday, June 7, at Fairfield's East Texas Medical Center. Mrs. Clary was born in Freestone County's Burleson Hill Community. She married John David Clary on May 3, 1947 and the couple later moved to Houston where they would live for 30 years before retiring to Burleson Hill in 1983. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers and also enjoyed traveling, especially to Colorado. Mrs. Clary was also a member of Grace Tabernacle Church in Dew where she was active in the church's Prayer Line Ministry. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, at Grace Tabernacle Church with Bo Davis officiating. Interment followed at Dew Cemetery. Mrs. Clary is survived by her husband of over 62 years, John David Clary of Burleson Hill; sons, Kerry Wayne Clary and wife Donna of Deer Park, and Melvin Ray Clary and wife Beverly of Cypress; five grandchildren, Jeff Clary and wife Dana, Stephanie Rider and husband Mike, Laura Cargill, Robin Victorian and husband Terry, and Jennifer Baker and husband Brian; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Dott DeBorde of San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William Gehrels and Wilbert (Opossum) Gehrels. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
