Ruth (Black) Cleaton

Funeral services were held last weekend for Ruth Black Cleaton, 86, of Wortham 
who died Saturday, Feb. 28, at East Texas Medical Center in Athens.

Mrs. Cleaton was born in Wortham on April 7, 1922 to Richard and Irene Black.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Calvary Baptist Church 
with Pastor Terry Skinner officiating.

Burial followed at Richland Cemetery with Shane Thomas, Brad Hicks, Richie 
Black, Brandson Black, Dustin Lane, Jeremy Little, John Stone and Casey Chanley 
serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Cleaton is survived by her sons, Clyde Thomas and wife Patsy of Olden; 
Bobby Thomas and wife Jean of Converse; grandchildren, Shane Thomas and wife 
Adie of Cisco; Shannon Thomas and wife Rebecca of Tyler; Todd Thomas of 
Converse; Timmy Thomas of Mineral Wells; Terry Thomas of Ranger; Tammy Hodges 
and husband Earl of Bastrop; brothers Purvis Black and

wife Louise of Fairfield, and Kenneth Black and wife Naomi of Spring; sister 
Mary Scott of Fairfield; nine great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Black and Irene Boyd Black; 
husband, John

Cleaton; and brothers, Duvard, Jim and Claude Black.

Funeral arrangements were made by Griffin- Roughton Funeral Home of Fairfield.
