Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Obituary for Benjamin Van Buren Cochrum The Mexia Daily News, Mexia, TX, on July 06, 1972 TEAGUE - Funeral services for Benjamin Van Buren Cochrum, 91, a lifelong resident of Freestone County, will be held today at 2 p.m. In Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Mr. Cochrum, who lived in Teague, was born on Sept. 8, 1880. He was a member of the Freestone Church of Christ and died Wednesday morning at McGee Nursing Home in Teague. He was a retired farmer. Officiating will be the Rev. James Dammon, pastor of First Baptist Church, and the Rev. H.L. McKissack, pastor of Cedar Baptist Church. Assisting will be the Rev. Dwight Atchley, pastor of Freestone Baptist Church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery (Freestone County), under the direction of Lawrence Funeral Home. Surviving is his wife, of Teague; a son, Garnett Cochrum of Teague; a half-sister, Mrs. Minnie Welch of Teague; four half-brothers, Sidney Knight of Buffalo, Robert Knight, Jack Night and Peyton Knight, all of Teague; two grandsons and one great-grandson.
