The Palestine Herald - January 28, 2006 edition Obituaries for 1-28-06 Kenny Cockerham Services for Kenny Cockerham, 68, of Teague, will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Teague with Darral Beggs officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home of Teague. Kenny died Wednesday at his residence. He was born June 17, 1937, in Italy, Texas to William Henry Cockerham and Eva Caskey. Kenny was reared in Italy. He worked in Grand Prairie at a machine shop then hired on at Rock Island Burlington Northern Railroad and later for Brown & Root where he traveled around the world and worked for them for 20 years before retiring in 1987. Along the way he met and married Mollie Robinson on Oct. 20, 1956 in Milford, Texas. They were married for more than 50 years. Kenny was a devoted husband, father and friend. He was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Elsy and Pearl Cockerham; brother-in-law, S.J. Flandry; and his parents, Henry and Eva Cockerham. Kenny is survived by his wife, Mollie Cockerham of Teague; children and spouses, Monica Kirgan and husband Jeff, and Melissa Baxter and husband Mark, all of Teague; siblings, Faye Flandry of Teague; and brother, Charles Bruce Cockerham and wife Laverne of Palestine; two grandsons, Matt Kirgan and Kyle Bradley; and faithful dog and best friend, Riley; special cousin, Nancy Forbes and husband Harry of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; great-nephews, Russell Flandry, Marty Ferguson, Lonnie Ferguson, Jaymie Clary, Jeff and J.J. Clary, Mike Cockerham and Gary Cockerham. Darrel Beggs officiated and interment was at Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Cockerham was born to William Henry Cockerham and Eva Caskey on June 17, 1937 in Italy TX. Mr. Cockerham died at the age of 68 on January 25 in his home. He is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Elzy and Pearl Cockerham; brother-in-law S. J. Flandry and his parents Henry and Eva Cockerham. Surviving Mr. Cockerham are his wife Mollie Cockerham of Teague; daughters Monica Kirgan and husband Jeff and Melissa Baxter and husband Mark all of Teague; sister Faye Flandry of Teague and brother Charles Bruce Cockerham and wife Laverne of Palestine. He is also survived by his grandsons Matt Kirgan and Kyle Bradley; special cousin Nancy Forbes and husband Harry of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved dog Riley. Pallbearers were his great nephews Russell Flandry, Marty Ferguson, Lonnie Ferguson, Jaymie Clary, Jeff and J. J. Clary, Mike Cockerham and Gary Cockerham.
