Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle May 24, 2007 issue CLYDE RAY COCKRELL Mr. Clyde Ray Cockrell of Fairfield, Texas passed away on May 18, 2007, in Fairfield. He was 79 years old. Mr. Cockrell was born in Aransas Pass, Texas on December 28, 1927, the only child of Charlie Jess Cockrell and Maggie Mae (nee Folk). Clyde Ray married Louise Bryant and the couple had one son, Billy Allen Cockrell. Mr. Cockrell had many jobs including construction work. He worked on many of the buildings in Fairfield, painting, Palestine Contractors, Mexia State School, Texas Department of Criminal Justice (Coffield and Beto 2 Units) as a prison guard. In his later years Mr. Cockrell worked with his son Billy in mowing yards, painting buildings, sign painting and locksmithing. For 21 years together they owned Cockrell's Locksmith Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield. Mrs. Cockrell died in April of 1987. Mr. Cockrell is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Billy Allen and Delwyn Cockrell, both currently living in New Zealand. Funeral services for Mr. Cockrell were held on May 22, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Fairfield. Interment followed the service at Lakes Chapel Cemetery in Fairfield. Capps Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
