Herbert Cody (July 2, 1926 - October 20, 2006) Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Cody of Teague was held Sunday, October 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Jeff Powers officiated. Interment followed the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague with Masonic Graveside Rites. James Herbert Cody was born to Esten and Gladys Riley Cody on July 2, 1926 in Detroit, Alabama. He made his trip to Heaven on October 20, 2006 and was met by his daughter, Valeria Cody, his mother and daddy. During his lifetime he was a husband, dad, step-dad, and Pa-Pa. He graduated from Memphis Technical School in 1945 where he was a member of the R.O.T.C. Upon graduation he entered the United States Army and served in Japan during World War II. He moved to Teague in 1947 and went to work for his uncle at the Crysler/Plymouth dealership. Shortly thereafter, he went to work as a fireman on steam engine trains. He retired after forty years of service from Burlington Northern/Rock Island Railroad in January of 1987. After retiring, he earned his Texas Real Estate Sales license and took over the operation of Cody Reality. Mr. Cody is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Pat Cody of Teague; daughter, Vickie Cody of Pompano Beach, FL.; step-son, Brian Harlan of Palmer; grandson, Brandon Harlan of Palmer; half sister, Jamie & husband George Bull of Maryville, TN; cousin, Gary & Beulah Mullins of Detroit, AL. and special friends & neighbors, Scott & Birdie Hamilton & family. Mr. Cody was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Teague. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Boggy Masonic Lodge #739 in Teague & received his fifty year membership pin in 2004. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Home Hospice of Grayson County or the Hospice of your choice.
