Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Submitted by Billie Bournias [Unknown Newspaper] Obituary Died, at this place, after an illness of three days, on the 22nd inst., Mrs. EUDORA COLLETT, consort of James H. Collett, and daughter of Pleasant Smith and Lucinda Smith. Mrs. Collett was born in Giles county, Tennessee, and came with her father to this State in the year 1846, and was married the 1st of January, 1852. "It was a beautiful thought of the ancients, that those, whom the gods love, die young", and from the quiet beauty of life of our departed friend, graced as it was with all the loveliness of a true woman, and marked by the meekness and goodness of the christian, we feel, that through mercy to her, she was taken in the midst of her young life, though it wrings the hearts of all who knew her kindly nature, that they must see one so dearly loved no more. "I am not afraid to die", she said, and her friends were not for her, but in deep anguish they prayed she might be spared to them; in vain, alas! for the shaft of death is inexorable. Fairfield, June 26, '55 A FRIEND.
