(Butch) Collier, 85, of Wortham died July 5, 1988 at his residence. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Wortham. The Rev. Ron Moore will officiate. Internment will be in Wortham Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He went to Currie to be a part of the oil boom and married Bessie Tyner in 1924. He was a butcher in Currie, Wortham, Fairfield, San Angelo, and Corsicana. He retired and made his home in Wortham and was song leader at First Baptist Church in Wortham. He was preceded in death by a son, J. C. Collier. Survivors include his wife, Bessie Collier of Wortham; one son, Alvis W. Collier of Duncanville; one sister, Irene Chadburn of Paris; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Deacons of the First Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Wortham.
