Martha Collins

Martha Collins, 93, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in 
Houston. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Corley Funeral 
Home. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Birdston Cemetery with
Brother Bill Honea officiating. An online guest book is available by going to

Martha Collins

Miss Martha Collins, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Will Collins of 
Streetman, passed away Feb. 23, 2005, in Houston. Miss Collins was preceded 
in death by a brother, Will Collins Jr. of Houston on Sept. 21, 1993; and
three sisters, Mary Collins of Corsicana on Dec. 5, 1998, Ruth C. Fouty of 
Corsicana on June 8, 2001, and Issie C. Steel of Conroe on Dec. 9, 2001.

Miss Collins graduated from Streetman High School, Streetman, and Commercial 
College, Dallas. She attended North Texas State University, Denton. She worked
in St. Louis, Mo., for Meyer Brothers Wholesale Drug Company from 1935 to 1940.
She came back to Texas in 1940 and went to Houston where she was employed by a
bank that is now Bank of America (formerly Houston Bank & Trust/Nations Bank),
retiring after 30 years and 30 days. Miss Collins moved to Corsicana in 
January 1980 and joined First Baptist Church of Corsicana in 1981 and found a
good church home there. She served as secretary-treasurer of the Birdston 
Cemetery Association for 17 years, beginning in 1962.

Miss Collins is survived by one brother and his wife, Major and Blanche Collins
of Houston; one sister, Anne C. Webber of Dallas; and numerous nieces and 
nephews.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Birdston Cemetery with 
Brother Bill Honea officiating. The Lord's Prayer will be sung at the close of
the service.

Memorials may be made to the Birdston Cemetery Association.
