Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Dallas Morning News January 10, 1992 Deceased Name: Rites today for educator Tommie Jean Collins Services for Tommie Jean Game-well Collins, a retired Dallas educator, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at North-Park Presbyterian Church. Additional services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Mrs. Collins, 94, died of a stroke Jan. 3 at Brentwood Place, a retirement home in Dallas. Mrs. Collins, a native of Wortham, had lived in Dallas since 1933. She was a homeroom and English teacher in the Dallas Independent School District for more than 31 years before retiring from Maple Lawn Elementary School in 1968. Mrs. Collins attended City Temple Presbyterian Church and North-Park Presbyterian Church. As a member of the American British Club, Mrs. Collins served as an advocate for international friendship. She also was a member of the Dallas Woman's Forum and a volunteer at the Wadley Institute. Mrs. Collins earned a master's degree from North Texas Teachers College, now the University of North Texas. She is survived by one sister, Margaret Game-well of Dallas; one niece; and two nephews.
