Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle - November 10, 2011 edition WILLIAM HENRY COLSON Funeral services for William Henry Colson, Jr., 70, of Teague were held Friday, November 11, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment was at the Dew Cemetery. Henry was born October 11, 1941, in Lubbock, Texas, to William Henry and Amsie White Colson, Sr. He married Sharon Lee Sanders on November 23, 1961. He was a minister and worked as a Chaplin for eight years at the Mexia State School. He was also a longtime businessman, owner and operator of Colson’s Music store. Henry was a very active member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member and cook for the Baptist Men’s Group. He was also a member of the Piano Technician Guild. He loved spending time with his family, church family, music and always willing to give his all in anything in which he was involved. Mr. Colson passed away November 8, 2011, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, William Henry Colson, III. Henry is survived by his wife of almost 50 yrs., Sharon; daughter, Michele Lee LeMay and husband, Larry of China Spring; grandchildren, Timothy William Long of Teague, Alicia Danielle Long of West and William Joseph "Billy" LeMay of China Spring; and sister, Mary E. Crisp of Corpus Christi. Pallbearers were Walt Van De Weghe, Troy Miller, Ray Jones, David Allen, Michael Chaney and Bill Matthews. The Baptist Men’s Group and Deacons served as honorary pallbearers. Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home of Mexia was in charge of the arrangements.
