Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder - January 13, 2011 JACK COMER, SR. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague for Mr. Jack Comer, Sr., 80, of Teague who died Jan. 7 at his home. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague with U.S. Air Force Honors. Mr. Comer was born May 2, 1930 in Freestone county to Sam Bell Comer and Iona Star McNutt Comer. He married Bonnie Mondell Wren on Jan. 6, 1950. Mr. Comer retired from the U.S. Air Force after twenty years of service and then pastored churches across the state of Texas for forty years. He served as Constable of Freestone county for ten years. Mr. Comer once said his goal in life was to serve his Lord, his country, and his community and he accomplished all three. He was preceded in death by his wife of fiftyfive years; his parents; great- grandson Jack Nash; and brother Billy Mac Comer. Mr. Comer is survived by children Lynn Kurtz of Waxahachie, Debbie Andres and husband Raymond of Colorado Springs, CO, Jack Comer, Jr. and wife Pam of Bridge City, Gale Greeson and husband Mike of Rice, and Judy Stice and husband Scottie of Uvalde; seventeen grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; sisters Gertrude Thompson of Waco and Patsy Posey Provost and husband Ross of Teague; brother Cecil Comer of Houston; sisters-in-law Ann Comer of Malakoff, Bernice Mae Hardison, and Yvonne Sartor, both of Baytown, and Janice Day of Kaufman; brother-inlaw A.B. Miller of Baytown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Officiating services were Matt Comer and Andy Comer, grandsons of Mr. Comer. Making arrangements was Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
