Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder - October 07, 2007 J. S. Compton Funeral services were held last Friday for J.S. Compton, 77, of Streetman who died Tuesday, Sept. 25 in Dallas. Mr. Compton was born in Streetman on April 6, 1930 to Irby and Mary Hayes Compton. He attended New Life Assembly of God and worked for Carroll Lumber in Teague and Hughes Lumber in Fairfield. Services were held Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harry Moore officiating. Burial was at Cade Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Compton, Mike Compton, Jason Hughes, Matt Anderson, Maurice Killingworth, Keith Tyner and Ken Tyner. Mr. Compton is survived by son James Compton and wife Ann of Streetman; daughters Glenda Crosby and husband Billy of Hover, Al. and Lisa Cothran and husband Wade of Teague; brothers Ed Compton of Longview and Ken (Sonny) Compton of Teague; sisters Mary Lee Tyner of Freeport and Jimmie Casey of Bastrop; grandchildren Jessica Sonnenberg, Megan Compton, Stacey Flurry, Matt Anderson and Cameron Cothran; great-grandchildren Cody, McKenzie, Courtney and Zachary. He is preceded in death by his wife Viola Compton and grandsons Kane Crosby and Ty James Sonnenberg.
