Lettie Jane Ivy Cook

Funeral services were held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana May 8 
for Lettie Jane Ivy Cook, 62, of Barry, formerly of Blooming Grove, who died May 
1 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Burial followed at Fairfield Cemetery. 
Pallbearers were Jason Cook, Andy Cook, Jeff Ivy, David Ivy, John C. Head IV and 
Charles Robert Ivy Head.

Mrs. Cook was born January 18, 1948 in Fairfield to Woodrow and Lily Forehand 
Ivy. She attended school in Fairfield and received her bachelor and master’s 
degrees from Stephen F. Austin University. She also completed her administration 
certification and worked toward her superintendent’s certification. Mrs. Cook 
was a greatly loved and highly respected kindergarten teacher both in Baytown 
and Blooming Grove for more than 32 years.

Mrs. Cook is preceded in death by her parents Woodrow Ivy and Lily Forehand Ivy 
and her brother, John Bruce Ivy.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, Hal Cook, Jr. of Barry; 
children, Andy Cook and wife Lori of Mineola and Lisa Cook Sem and husband 
Michael of Longmont, CO. Grandchildren are Annalee Cook and Ruby and Lyra Sem.

Mrs. Cook is also survived by sister, Madie Ivy Head of New York City and sister-
in-law, Joanna Smyly Ivy of Lake Jackson; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Kay 
Cook of Baytown; nephews, John C Head IV of Cambridge, MA, Charles Robert Ivy 
Head of Norwalk, CT.,

David Ivy and wife Erin of Austin, Jeff Ivy of San Marcos, Jason Cook of 
Dickinson, and Randall Cook of Fallbrook, CA.

Mrs. Cook was an active volunteer in her community and participated in many 
service organizations including Blooming Grove Historical Society, the Lions 
Club and Friends of the Corsicana Library. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi 
and First Baptist Church of Blooming Grove.

Mrs. Cook and her family have sponsored a Blooming Grove High School scholarship
and would appreciate contributions in lieu of flowers to the Ruth Ramsey 
Scholarship Fund, Inc., Jane Ivy Cook Scholarship, Box 55 Blooming Grove, TX.
