DeBorde Freestone County History Book, Vol 2, page 194 George Lee Cooper was born August 16, 1861, the son of George Cooper and Jane Burleson Cooper. The first record of his appearance in Freestone County was the purchase of 160 acres of land near Donie on November 24, 1882. About the same time, he married Callie Lookingbill of Buffalo. In 1890, he sold the land at Donie to K. J. Mayberry. Elizabeth, John, and Charlie Mayberry were his half-sister and brothers. George had a brother, J.H. who died at an early age. Another brother, Nathan, died in 1933. In 1901, he purchased land about 10 miles east of Fairfield. In 1940, he divided the land between his three remaining children. Floyd and Trania Teague purchased Emery’s portion which gave them two-thirds of the place. The land was later sold to the DeFrances, who now live there. George and Callie had two sons and two daughters. Harvey passed away in 1931, never having married. George Emery Cooper passed away in 1975, having been married twice and leaving a daughter and two sons. Susie was born on December 28, 1887, and married Al DeBorde in 1909. They had eleven children, ten boys and one girl. Trania Mae was born on March 18, 1892 and married Floyd Teague on January 16, 1924. They had one son, J. D. Teague, who now serves as City Administrator of the City of Fairfield. Callie died in 1927 after a long illness. George died on July 8, 1941. Both are buried in Antioch Cemetery at Turlington.
