Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper March 15, 2008 edition Ellen “Flo” (Henson) Corley Funeral services were held last week for Ellen F. Corley, 76, of Teague who died Sunday, March 2, at her residence. Mrs. Corley was born in Palestine, but resided at the Juliet Fowler Children's Home in Dallas for six years following the death of her mother at the age of eight. During her time there, Mrs. Corley learned to play the piano and helped to care for the younger children and infants. She moved to Teague while in high school and graduated with the class of 1948. Mrs. Corley served as a yell leader and participated in the school newspaper and marching band. She married Buddy Corley on June 13, 1950. The couple shared over 45 years of marriage before his death in 1995. Mrs. Corley was employed as an agent for Teague Insurance and as a bookkeeper for her husband's business. She was a member at the First Baptist Church of Teague and enjoyed camping, skiing, boating and music. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague with Ed Ridge officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Corley is survived by daughter Cindy Fryer and husband John of Fairfield; son Bill Corley of Teague; granddaughters Niki Edwards and husband Jon of Waco, Natalie Mabry and husband Mike of Fairfield, and Jessica Corley of Teague; grandson Christopher Corley of Teague; and great grandchildren Kelton Mabry, Joshua Edwards, Abby Grace Edwards, Kahne Mabry, and Cade Corley; brothers Joel Henson, Jr. of Teague and Robert Henson of Rutheron, New Mexico; half-brothers Charles Henson and Gary Henson; half-sister Linda Flick; and friend and neighbor Ruby French of Teague. She is preceded in death by husband Buddy Corley; parents Joel and Mary Ellen Henson; brother Ross Henson; sister Wanda Jean Henson; and half-brother Wayne Henson. (FLO) CORLEY Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen F. (Flo) Corley, 76, were held on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Ed Ridge officiated and interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Mrs. Corley passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008, at her residence in Teague, Texas. She was born in Palestine, but lived from ages eight through fourteen at the Juliet Fowler Children’s Home in Dallas after the death of her mother. She learned to play the piano while at the children’s home and also helped care for the younger children and babies in the nursery there. She moved to Teague while in high school and graduated with the Teague High School class of 1948. She was active in the Teague Lion Band, was a yell leader, and worked on the Orange & White school newspaper. She married Buddy Corley on June 13, 1950, and shared over forty-five years together before being separated by his death in 1995. Mrs. Corley worked as an agent for Teague Insurance for many years as well as serving as bookkeeper for her husband’s business. Mrs. Corley loved to go camping, skiing and boating and really loved music and really enjoyed raising her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Teague.
