Gertrude (Smith) Courtney

Funeral services were held Thursday in Oakwood for Gertrude Courtney, 83, of
Oakwood who died Tuesday Oct 24 at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Courtney was born February 13, 1923 in Red Branch, Texas.  She was a 
secretary at Texas Instruments, and had lived in Oakwood for 5 years after
moving from Houston.

Services were conducted at Back to the Bible Church, with Rev. Johnny Robinson
officiating.

Burial was at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Oakwood.  Her nephews served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Courtney was survived by her brothers, Jack Smith and wife Dianne of Oakwood
and Homer Smith and wife Terri of Palestine; sisters Billie Richmond of Oakwood,
Marjory Raines and Dell Adams of Pasadena and Rebecca Boyd and husband Gary of 
Palestine; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Courtney, and her parents,
James Austin Smith and Mary Ethel Davis Smith.
