Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle. Dec. 24, 2009 issue J.C. COX Funeral services for Mr. J.C. Cox were held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, Texas. Reverend Lewis Brown and Apostle David D. Ransom, Sr. officiated at the services and interment was at Cox Cemetery in Kirven, Texas. J.C. was born in Wortham where he attended the public schools and had been a member of The Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of New Home Baptist Church in Mexia at the time of his death. J.C. has been employed by the Fairfield ISD, Brown and Root, Inc., and served 22 years with the Freestone County Sheriff's Department. He passed away on December 16, 2009, at Windsor Health Care Residence of Groesbeck among loving family and devoted friends. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife Jean Cox of Fairfield; his sons Clois Cox and wife Blonda of Dallas and Tracy Garrett and his wife Lisa of Palestine; his daughters Linda Cooper and husband William of Henderson, Texas, Dianne Manning and husband Richie of Fairfield, Cynthia Garrison of Houston, Paula Storey and husband Scott of Waxahachie, Yolanda Ransom and husband Daniel of Fairfield and Brenda Cox of Mexia; his brother Joshua Cox of Fort Worth; his sister Dorothy Mays of Dallas; 20 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; five brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
