Mary Verdis McGee Cruise

Mary Verdis McGee Cruise, 91, a longtime resident of Liberty, died Feb. 7, 2004,
at Cordele Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cordele, Ga. Visitation is 6 to 
9 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday 
at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. James Sadler and the Rev. Ernest 
Whittington officiating. Burial will be in Nunnery Cemetery in Amite County. 
Mrs. Cruise was born Oct. 2, 1912, in Teague, Texas, to Fred McGee Sr. and Lucy 
Helen McCoy McGee. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church 
in Liberty. Mrs. Cruise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, 
James S. Cruise Sr.; and one daughter, Joyce Cynthia Cruise Graham. Survivors 
include one daughter, Linda C. Bailey, and her husband Dr. Dan Bailey of 
Cordele; two sons and their wives, Sidney and Frances Cruise of Liberty, and 
Fred and Sheila Cruise of Moncks Corner, S.C.; eight grandchildren and four 
great-grandchildren.
