Mexia Daily News - Nov. 26, 2004 edition Mavis Curry Funeral services for Mrs. Mavis Curry, 84, of Wortham, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock in Beulah Baptist Church of Wortham. Officiating will be the Rev. Sylvester Neal. Burial will be in Old Wortham Cemetery at Wortham, under direction of Clark Manor Memorial Chapel-Mexia. Mrs. Curry, born in Wortham on Dec. 7, 1919, died Monday, Nov. 15, at her home. She was a retired employee of Mexia State School, where she had been in charge of Shamrock areas. She also was a musician and Choir Director of Beulah Baptist Church, and was a member of the Pride of Wortham Court of Calanthe 367. Mrs. Curry was a lifelong resident of Wortham. Surviving are two daughters, Debra Curry Jackson and Dale Anita Miles of Wortham; a granddaughter, Adriane DeNee' Miles of Wortham; two grandsons, Albert L. Jackson III and Harold C. Jackson, both of Houston; a sister-in-law, Juanita Washington of Texas City; honorary children and grandchildren, many other relatives and friends whom she loved so much. Pallbearers are Drew Bates, Norris Griffins, Brandon Kirby, Gary Smith, Chad Betts, Korey Williams, Michael Betts and Kendrick Busby.
