Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Groesbeck Journal - June 4, 2009 issue John L. "Johnny" Dabney John L. "Johnny" Dabney, 49, of Mexia passed away May 26, 2009 in Waco. Funer al services were Friday, May 29, at New Hope Church. Rev. David Snow and Rev. Kenneth Hutchison officiated with interment to follow in New Hope Cemetery. Johnny was born to Norris L. and Violet Nell (Foley) Dabney in Fairfield, Texas on January 21, 1960. Johnny was an employee of Cen-Tex Maintenance Department. He served as a reserve police officer in Mexia. Johnny loved to hunt deer, wild hogs and fishing. Johnny enjoyed spending countless hours teaching children to fish. He was a very devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents. Johnny is survived by his wife, Ann (Richmond) Dabney of Mexia; sons, John and wife, Cassie Dabney and Jacob Dabney all of Mexia; brothers, Norris Dabney and wife, Dixie, Robin Dabney and wife, Kim, Jerry Dabney and wife Becky, and Wesley Dabney and wife, Rosa all of Mexia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Bennie Murphy, Gary Isbell, Lewis Isbell, Kelly Isbell, Randy Mitchell and Danny Finley.
