Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder December 09, 2007 Walton S. Daniel, Jr. Funeral services for a former Fairfield man were held last month in Kerrville. Walton S. Daniel, Jr., 82, of Kerrville, died Nov. 8. Mr. Daniel was born Sept. 2, 1925 in Kerrville to Walton S. Daniel, Sr. and Beatrice Doughty. He served in Germany during World War II as a staff sergeant. After the war, he attended Texas A&M University, earning a bachelor of science degree. Mr. Daniel worked as a game biologist, living in Fairfield, working in east and central Texas counties, from 1954 until his retirement in 1982. In 1995, he and his wife returned to live in Kerrville and the Texas hill country, where he enjoyed retirement to the fullest. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Leigh Blevins and granddaughter Michelle Daniel. Survivors are Mr. Daniel’s wife of 60 years Betty Hunt Daniel of Kerrville, son Mike Daniel and wife Sheryl, daughter Jill Ratliff, grandchildren Nathan Daniel, Sam Baskin, Quinten Daniel, Brad Blevins and wife Megan, Daniel Blevins and wife Jennifer, Josh Ratliff and fiancee Amanda Taylor, Matt Ratliff and Rod Ratliff, father of Josh and Matt; Great grandchildren Aubrey Blevins and Emily Blevins, brother Tom Daniel and wife Jeanne of Wimberly and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and neighbors. Visitation was Nov. 11 at Kerrville Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Nov. 12 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Warren Hornung and Dr. Mel Hardin officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Garden of Memories Cemetery, also in Kerrville. Arrangements were made by Kerrville Funeral Home.
