(Jack) Daugherty, retired lath and plaster contractor and rancher, were held at 4 p.m., August 5, 1977, at Capps Chapel. The Rev. H. Daniel Jones officiated, and interment followed in the Stewards Mill Cemetery. Mr. Daugherty was born January 29, 1908 in Yoakum, Texas and died August 4, 1977 in Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and had served as a member of the Offical Board for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Scottish Rite K.C.C.H., Shrine and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was Chairman of the Freestone County Republicians, and the first male member of the Hospital Auxiliary. Mr. Daugherty served with the U.S. Maritime Service, operating in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres of Operations, from October 4, 1943 to March 28, 1945. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; one daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Patsy) Pulliam of Ft. Worth; one brother, J. Somers Daugherty of Fairfield; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Wilson of St. Louis, Mrs. Willie Mae Hilbun of Fairfield, Mrs. Dorothy Dodson and Mrs. Guy (Alice) Lewis of Ft. Worth; five grandchildren, Mike, Louise, Tim, Terry and Lelia. Pallbearers were Bill Bonner, Mike Bonner, Andy Bonner, Burt Richards, A. B. Turner, Barry Capps and Frank Bonner.
