Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle - November 24, 2011 edition WILMER (SAP) DAVIS Funeral Services for Wilmer (Sap) Davis, Jr., 71, were held Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Sweet Home Baptist Church, 311 N. Baker Street, Mexia with Rev. Byron Ravnell officiating and Mr. Davis' son, Rev. Wilmer Davis, pastor of Ford Chapel P.B. Church, Eulogist. Interment followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hwy 84, in Mexia. Wilmer (Sap) Davis was born in Limestone County to Wilmer (Bill) Davis, Sr and Jane L. Sanders Davis on June 1, 1940 and grew up and attended the public schools there. He was married to Rosa Livingston Davis and from this union two sons:, Gregory and Wilmer R. were born. Mr. Davis was a member of the Ford Chapel Primitive Baptist Church of Mexia where his son is pastor. "Sap" operated a barber shop in Mexia for many years, owned a Janitorial Service, and retired from Mexia State School where he also volunteered as a Foster Grandparent. He was a member of Mexia's "20 Grand Club" and loved the outdoors, was quite a Handy Man and was an avid gardener. The Angelic Hosts came for Sap on Monday, November 14, 2011 at his residence among loving family and devoted friends. Preceding Mr. Davis in death were: his father, Wilmer (Bill) Davis, Sr. as well as his mothers: Janel L. Davis and Irene Davis; Brothers: Eddie Levi Davis and Carl Davis and sisters: Mary Lynn Davis and Rita Davis. Survivors include: A sister who raised him: Mrs. Ella Davis Busby, Mexia, TX; Sons: Gregory Davis and wife, Lenor, Mexia, TX; Wilmer R. Davis and wife, Vicki, Mexia, TX; Patrick O'Neal Dixon and wife, Amanda, Ft. Worth, TX; Daughters: Tarsha Rochelle Garrett and husband, Edward, Mexia, TX; Tamala Rochelle Thomas, Desoto, TX; and Yolanda Michelle Boyd, Mexia, TX; Brothers: Larry Davis and wife, Helen, Houston, TX; Robert Davis, Mexia; Ronnie Joe Davis and wife, Lisa, Waco, TX; and Darrell Felix Davis, Mexia; Sisters: Wilma Rene Smith and husband, James, Mexia, TX and Debra Ann Davis, Mexia, TX; Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
