Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder - Thursday April 13, 2006 edition Juliette Manahan Davis Juliette Manahan Davis of Wortham died Friday at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Davis was 81 years old. Mrs. Davis was born June 10, 1924 in Fairfield. Funeral services were held Monday at First United Methodist Church in Wortham, Rev. Vern Fuqua and Rev. Terry Colwell officiating. Interment followed at Wortham Cemetery. Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Kathleen and Jim McKee of Fairfield, Carol Ann and Bobby Biggar of Austin and Jacqueline and Paul Collins of Wortham; her grandchildren Clay McKee and wife Diane of Belton; Krystal Collins, Kyle Collins and Kaycee Collins of Wortham and Molly Biggar of Austin and great grandchildren Brayden and Cash McKee of Belton. She is also survived by her brother Jervis Robert Manahan and wife Tigna of Fairfield; nephews Hunter Wise and Julian Wise and their families; three step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren all of California and numerous cousins and friends. Pallbearers were Don Thornton, Harold Masey, Randy Goolesby, Norris Buchmeyer, Stanton Bussell and Brad McReynolds. Arrangements were by Porter Funeral Chapel in Wortham. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Fairfield Recorder - Tuesday April 18, 2006 edition on page 6B Juliette Manahan Davis Juliette Manahan Davis was born June 10, 1924 and died April 7, 2006 at Hillcrest Baptist Hospital in Waco with her three daughters by her side. Juliette was born to Jervis Green and Lottie Childs Manahan in Fairfield. The first eighteen years of her life Mrs. Davis lived in Fairfield and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Juliette graduated from Fairfield high school in 1941. She was involved in school activities, but often talked of enjoying roller skating and being with her family and friends. On April 24, 1943 she married Uel L. Davis, Jr. who for the next 52 years continued to be the love of her life, until his death in 1995. As a young couple and a military bride they lived in Corsicana and San Antonio, returning to Fairfield at the end of the war. In 1947 they moved to Wortham where she remained until her death. Mrs. Juliette Davis was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Wortham, the Jonathan Hardin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Freestone County Historical Commission and many auxiliary committees. Her legacy was her family. When speaking on family, Juliette radiated with pride. The son-in-law were sons and her grandchildren were her love and joy. From the first grandchild to the last, whether it was church or school programs, sporting events, one act play, puppets or Freestone County Fair, she was always there to encourage and support them. Mrs. Davis was known for her strong faith in God, kind postive nature, love for her family and friends. Juliette will also be remembered for her cooking, including her cakes. She loved birds, flowers and visiting with friends. A celebration of her life was held April 10 at First United Methodist Church of Wortham. Rev. Verne Fuqua of Fort Worth, held her service. Rev. Terry Colwell of Wortham assisted. Bill and Linda Ferris of Tehuacana and Don Thornton of Fairfield provided special music. Pallbearers include Norris Buckmeyer, Stanton Bussell, Randy Goolsby, Harold Massery, Brad McReynolds and Don Thornton. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
