Mexia Daily News - Aug. 12, 2003 edition Chester Ralph Dawley GROESBECK - Funeral services for Chester Ralph (Red) Dawley, 89, of Groesbeck, will be conducted Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Marcus Sheffield, pastor of Mexia First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Bennett-Lenoir Cemetery in the Honest Ridge community. Mr. Dawley, who died Monday morning in Groesbeck, was born July 14, 1914, in Box Church to Fred L. and Olga M. Blei Dawley. He was married on May 18, 1946, in Freestone County to Mary Eady, who preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 1995. A veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army, Mr. Dawley served as a Staff Sergeant, and was a farmer/rancher. He was a member of The American Legion Post 288 in Groesbeck, and was a member of the Baptist Church. Also preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers - Fred Dawley, John Dawley and William (Bill) Dawley; and two sisters - Pauline Dawley and Madeline Reeves. Visitation is scheduled for this evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at the funeral home. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Kay Dawley of Groesbeck, James and Carol Ann Dawley of Mexia, John and Donna Dawley of Groesbeck; two sisters, Elsie Shugart and husband Jack of Groesbeck, and Elaine Hindman of Shepherd; and seven grandchildren - Andrea and husband Brad Mitchell, Nicole Dawley, Rachel Dawley, Jennifer Dawley, Todd Dawley, Matthew Dawley and John S. Dawley.
