Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [This is Emily Tullias Day] The Fairfield Recorder - August 11, 1977 - Page 11 Emily Day Miss Emily Day, daughter of William Preston Day and Lila Williams Day, was born March 17, 1904, five miles northeast of Fairfield. At an early age, after the death of her parents, she came to live in the home of her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Huckaby. She continued to live in the Huckaby home the remainder of her life. She passed away in Granville C. Morton Hospital at Wadley Institute in Dallas, Texas, Sunday, August 7, 1977. Funeral services under direction of Capps Funeral Home were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. D. C. Pruitt and Rev. Dewey Morgan officiating. Interment was at Fairfield Cemetery. Miss Day was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and had been a Sunday School teacher there for over fifty years. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Auxiliary and was active in all phases of church work. Miss Day was a member of Freestone County Senior Citizens, Garden Club and a volunteer at the Fairview Manor Nursing Home. Survivors are one brother, Gattice Day, Fairfield; cousins, Mary Vernon Withrow, Orange, Tex., Annette Sullins, Tehuacana, Lila Tate, Fairfield, Charlotte Hemby, Troup, Tex., Hester Dunbar, Fairfield and a number of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Billy Paul Withrow, James F. (Buddy) Withrow, Bill Sullins, Frank Parker, Jimmy Hemby, Neal Vance, and Joe Hancock.
