Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [This is Thomas Frederick Day b 24 Sep 1925 d 11 Sep 1938] The Fairfield Recorder [Unknown date in Sept. 1938] Accident Fatal To Fairfield School Pupil Thomas Frederick, aged 14 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Van Day of Turlington, died in a Teague sanitarium at an early hour Sunday morning as the result of injuried received Friday afternoon about 6 o'clock. He was driving hogs horseback when his horse stumbled over a hog, causing the horse to fall on him. He remained unconcious until death. Burial was in the Antioch cemetry Monday morning under direction of Burleson Funeral Home. Religious services were conducted by the Rev. E. D. Keller, assisted by the Revs. H.L. McKissack, W.R. Miller and Sherman Smith. Hymns were sung by a quartette composed of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Harris and Mr. and Mrs. Algy Stroud. Thomas Frederick was a pupil of the Fairfield School, and Supt. P. D. Browne told of his fine character as a boy and a student, and fellow classmates acted as pall bearers - James Weldon, Ramon and Lawrenece McBride, Dwaine Glazener, Clark Russell Loper, Joe Albert Miles, Roger David Steward, David Martin, Jim Riley Cole, Charlie Cole, Jasper Nettle, Cannon Awalt. The faculty of the Fairfield school and a large number of the pupiles attended the funeral.
