Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [This is James Francis Day Sr. b 23 Sep 1864 d 1 Apr 1937] The Fairfield Recorder [Unknown date in Apr. 1937] NATIVE CITIZEN OF FREESTONE COUNTY DIES AT HOME HERE J. F. Day, aged 72, died at his home near Fairfield, Thursday evening at 6:45, after a long period of declining health. Burial was in the Fairfield cemetery Friday afternoon, Rev. Doyle Davis of Ft. Worth conducting the services. Mr. Day is survived by his widow, four children, Mrs. F. B. Clark and Marion Day, of Dallas; Mrs. W. F. Tate of Fairfield, and Frankie Day of Arizona; two brothers and a sister, Cap and Charlie Day and Mrs. Fannie Bowers, all living a few miles east of Fairfield. He was born in Freestone County near Fairfield, and came from one of the oldest pioneer families of the county. He was a man of a quiet, agreeable disposition, and was highly regarded by all who knew him. He had a large circle of friends who grieve with his family over his departure.
