Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [Source: Linda Mullen] Fairfield Recorder - July 9th 1888 edition of "Antioch Happenings" [from the Freestone Co History book, A History of Freestone County: Its Communities: Its People, Phase III, page A 165.] DIED.-- Mr. William J. DAY, whose illness was mentioned recently died last Friday at 12 o'clock. Mr. DAY was very well known in our county, as well as in adjoining counties. He was an old man, and has a large family and several grown boys to attend to his business. But that is not like having a father and husband to go for advice. Mr. DAY was among our most energetic citizens and we regret very much to lose him. He will be greatly missed in our community. His remains were interred in the family grave yard on his place. [William Jackson Day family cemetery] On page A-149 of this same book, it mentions that " Mr. William J. Day, living a few miles east of town, is critically ill with flux."
