D. K. COMPTON DIES AT STEWARDS MILL D. K. Compton, age 76 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. M. Watson at Stewards Mill, Monday evening at 7 o'clock. Burial took place Monday afternoon in the Teague cemetery. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church. The Rev. Goens, assisted by the Rev. E. Homer Tirey and the Rev. Bounds, was in charge. Mr. Compton is survived by his wife and five children and nine grandchildren. His children are: Mrs. E. M. Watson, Stewards Mill; Mrs. Harry LeGro, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Betty Walker, San Antonio; Joe Compton, Palestine; and Lewis Compton, Teague. Two daughters, Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Walker, and two granddaughters, Doris Walker and Mrs. W. H. Furness of San Antonio, were at the bedside of Mr. Compton when death came. Mr. Compton was a well-known citizen of Freestone County, having spent his entire life in this section. He was born at Dew seventy-six years ago, and was married to Miss Nancy Theodosia Jones of Alabama. Mr. Compton was a Methodist pastor until the last few years. His health had been bad for sometime, and a few weeks ago he and his wife had left their home at Teague, to make their home with Mrs. Watson.
