Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle - Feb 1, 2007: VERNICE COLLINS DENKINS Ms. Vernice Collins Denkins, of Buffalo, Texas, passed away on January 21, 2007. She was 86 years old. Ms. Denkins was born on November 5, 1921, in Buffalo, Leon County, Texas, to Dewitt and Artie Lee Collins. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Sister Denkins was a faithful and dedicated member of Grace Tabernacle in Dew, Texas until her health failed. Funeral services for Ms. Denkins were held on Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Grace Tabernacle Church in Buffalo, Texas. Reverend Travis Davis, Pastor of Grace Tabernacle Church, conducted the services and interment was at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery in Oakwood, Texas. Ms. Denkins was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Bennie Mae, Dorothy Lee, Betty Mary and brothers Dewitt, Jr. and Marvin Collins and her daughter Anne Vernice Coleman. Ms. Denkins is survived by her daughters Maxine Terrell and Debbie (Garland) Scott of Buffalo, Texas, her sons McQuester (Elizabeth) Taylor, Charles (Annie) Taylor, Lynwood (Patricia) Barnes of Dallas, Texas and Larry (Virginia) Ranson of Buffalo, Texas. Her aunt Jessie Mae Fairfax of Dallas, Texas and her sister Artie Bell Jones of Buffalo, Texas, 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and a host of family and friends also survive Ms. Denkins. Pallbearers for Ms. Denkins were Charles Taylor, Jr., Zearl Williams, Ervin Brown, Ryan Taylor, Tracy Henry, Larry Ranson, Jr., LaMont Ranson and Ra'Shun Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Emanuel Funeral Home of Teague was in charge of the arrangements.
