Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper - Feb 16, 2006 edition Martha Jo (Bulin) Tackett Denney Funeral services were held Friday for Martha Jo Tackett Denney at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel, Louis Simpson and Carl Clark officiating. Mrs. Denney died at the age of 79 on February 7. Interment was at Dew Cemetery. Mrs. Denney was born on August 3, 1926 in Bremond to Andy Lee and Emily Allison Bulin. She was regarded as a good mother, grandmother and great grandmother who never met a stranger. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and loved to attend church singings. Mrs. Denney worked as a waitress in several area restaurants and met Lee Denney while working at Grandma's Fried Chicken which is now Ponte's Diner in Fairfield. They married February 12, 1981. She was living in Lanely at time of death. Mrs. Denney was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Gerald Tackett and her sisters Dorine Barger and Maurice Bulin. Surviving Mrs. Denney are her husband, Mr. Lee Denney of Lanely; her son Jerry Tackett and wife Jean of Teague; daughter Vicki Jo Graves and husband Ray of Teague and grandchildren Heath Tackett and Angela Fogle of Teague. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Mackenzie and Brayden of Teague; brother Tracy Bulin of Teague; sisters Dorothy Denton of Angleton, Reba Holder of Lake Jackson and Jacque Frazier of Willis; a special niece who was more like a daughter, June Long and husband Columbus of Lanely and her children Lynnie Long of Rowlett, Jaime Long of Kirvin and Jason Long of Dew and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Columbus Long, Jason Long, G. V. Long, Grady Hill, Gary Sim and Robert Brantner. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Corinth Baptist Church. Arrangements were by Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home.
