Freestone County, Texas Obits Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home website Lee O. Denney (February 7, 1932 - September 3, 2006) Funeral services for Mr. Lee O. Denney, of Lanely, were held on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 10:00a.m. in the chapel at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home. Bro. Carl Clark officiated. Interment followed the services at Dew Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Joe Fuentez, G. V. Long, Grady Hill, Terry McDaniel, Bailey Stinson, and John Golmon. Mr. Denney passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2006, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Mr. Denney had lived in Lanely the past twenty-five years. He retired from J. W. Operating Co. as a Pumper. He loved horses and donkeys and enjoyed raising and trading them. He also raised cattle for several years. Mr. Denney was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Dew. He is survived by one son, Jerry Tackett & wife Jean, one daughter, Vicki Graves & husband Ray, two grandchildren, Heath Tackett and Angie Fogle & husband Lee, two great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Brayden Fogle, all of Teague; one brother, Jewell P. Denney of Pascagoula, MS; two sisters, Leona Varnado of Summit, MS and Elizabeth Hutcherson of Mocksville, NC; a host of nephews and nieces who loved their “Uncle Red”. He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-five years, Martha Jo Denney; three brothers, Roy Denney, Jerry Denney, and Troy Denney; and his parents, Robert Russell and Vallie Wilkinson Denney.
