Obituaries Irene (Critendon) Dickens Funeral services were held last week for Irene Dickens, 79, of Buffalo who died Friday, October 4, in Anahuac. Mrs. Dickens was born in Smithville on May 17, 1929, to Walter and Myrtle Critendon. She worked as a school dietitian and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Services were held at 2 p.m. last Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating at the afternoon services was Larry Morris. Interment followed at Buffalo Cemetery with Ken Jones, Gary Helmcamp, Calvin Williams, Wallace Jones, Ray Steelman and Joe Graves serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Dickens is survived by her son, Donald Dickens and wife Cindy of Liberty; daughters, Donna Hatcher and husband Allen of Liberty, Diane Dickens of Kingwood and Debra Williams and husband Norman of Flo; grandchildren, Wayne Hatcher and wife Stacey of Liberty, Darrin Hatcher and wife Shelly of Hankamer, Renee Straney and husband Jerry of Garland, Tara Skrabanek of Africa and Clinton Skrabanek of Colorado; great-grandchildren, Brittney Hatcher of Anahuac, Bailey Hatcher of Hankamer, Demi Hatcher of Hankamer and Trey Hatcher of Anahuac. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Dickens and her parents Walter L. Myrtle (Dement) Critendon. Arrangements were made by Memorial Funeral Home of Buffalo.
