Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder - June 30th, 2007 edition Billy O'Neil Dodd Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 26 in Wink, Texas for Billy O'Neil Dodd, 78, of Kermit who died Saturday, June 23 at his residence. Mr. Dodd, a lifetime resident of Winkler county, was born in a tent "city" between Kermit and Wink and was the last survivor of the original Wink Dodd family. He graduated Wink high school in 1946, and attended a year of college at Sul Ross State University. He worked for 38 years as a pumper for Amoco. After retiring from Amoco, he served his community as Winkler County Constable, Pct. 4 for 20 years, then as a court bailiff. He was a hard-core Yellow Dog Democrat, and a member of the Wink Good Ole Boys Club. He was an avid fan of both the Wink Wildcats and the Texas Longhorns. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Wink, with Bro. Richard Ray officiating. Pallbearers were Raymond Dodd, Scott Michael, James Burns, Clay Reynolds, Bo Reynolds and Billy Voyles. Honorary pallbearers were Kurt D'Laney Dodd and Roy Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Omylee Gail Dodd of Kermit; one son, Rodney Dodd and wife Mary of Fairfield; two daughters, Kelly Thomas and husband Roy of Midland and Holly Bryan and husband D.J. of Wink; Seven grandchildren, Jasmine Barrick, Jonnett Barrick, Mallory Bryan, Tracy Power and husband Chris, Brandy Bryan, Daniel Dodd and friend Lorretta Foster, and James Bryan and wife Leeanna; and four great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Hope Harmonson and Evan and Cameron Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lola Bell Dodd; one son, Kurt D'Laney Dodd; six brothers, Eugene, W.L., J.L., Don, Dale and Raymond Dodd; and one sister, Betty Lou Dodd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Wink, Belvue Baptist Church of Kermit, Rural Hospice, Inc. or the Rosey Dodd Scholarship Fund.
