Wayne C. Donaldson
May 1, 1927 - August 9, 2015


Wayne C. Donaldson, 88, longtime Postmaster of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, 
August 9, 2015 in Fairfield. Mr. Donaldson was born May 1, 1927 in Fairfield to 
parents Clyde Cornelius and Nell Wooton Donaldson. He married Dixie Franks on 
January 16, 1950 in Fairfield. Mr. Donaldson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy 
serving during the Korean Conflict. He was appointed Fairfield Postmaster on 
September 23, 1961 by President John F. Kennedy and served in that capacity 
until retirement. During his lifetime in Fairfield he served two terms on the 
city council. He was Fairfield Chamber of Commerce manager for eight years and 
received the Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. He served 
for 25 years with the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department. He was past secretary 
of the Fairfield Lions Club for 11 years and was a 50 plus year member of 
Fairfield Lodge #103 A.F. & A.M. He was a member of First Baptist Church of 
Fairfield. Wayne was known for his love of the outdoors and hunting and fishing. 
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dennis 
Gilbreath.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Dixie; two daughters, Shauna Neely of 
Fairfield; Becky Boyd and husband Kenneth of Fairfield; one grandson, Trent 
Neely of Fairfield.
