Douglas (December 26, 1922 - January 11, 2007) Funeral services for Mr. Louis Douglas will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 2:00pm in the chapel at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Steve Cowart will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday with the family present from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Mr. Douglas passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. He was born in Coatbridge, Scotland to Thomas and Mary Douglas on December 26, 1922 and moved to America with his family when he was 14 months old. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in England. He was an accomplished photographer and also enjoyed wood working. When his children were growing up, he loved to take them fishing, camping, and to go on family vacations. Mr. Douglas was a faithful member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague and was very active. He served as a volunteer, along with his wife Ruth, for Meals on Wheels for several years. He was known to love Russell Stover Chocolates! He is survived by five sons, Tom Douglas & wife Pam of St. Louis, MO, Ken Douglas of Chatanooga, TN, Keith Douglas & wife Annette of Farmington, MI, Mark Douglas & wife Viv of Neosho, MO, and Tim Douglas & wife Annette of Pierce City, MO; one daughter, Lynne Robertson & husband David of West Bloomfield, MI; twenty-two grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives & friends. Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Mary Douglas and two wives, Alice Douglas and Ruth Willard Douglas. ================================================= Teague Chronicle - January 18, 2007 LOUIS R. DOUGLAS Funeral services for Mr. Louis R. Douglas, age 84, were held on Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Teague. Bro. Steve Cowart of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church officiated and interment followed the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Mr. Douglas was born on December 26, 1922, at Coatbridge, Scotland and passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2007, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia, Texas. The Douglas' moved to America when he was about 14 months old. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served overseas in England during World War II. He had been a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church since 1984 and was very active until his health failed during the last few years. He loved to take his kids fishing, camping and on trips when he was younger. He was an accomplished photographer and enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Douglas loved Russell Stover chocolate, was very active in senior activities and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Pallbearers for Mr. Douglas were Robert Baldree, Jerrel Little, Andy Myers, J.W. Fitzgerald, Rollie Winfree and James Huffman. Mr. Douglas is survived by his five sons: Tom Douglas and wife Pam of St. Louis, Missouri, Ken Douglas of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Keith Douglas and wife Annette of Farmington, Michigan, Mark Douglas and wife Viv of Neosho, Missouri, Tim Douglas and wife Annette of Pierce City, Missouri, and his daughter Lynne Robertson and husband David of West Bloomfield, Michigan. Twenty-two grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive Mr. Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Mary Douglas and his wives Alice Douglas and Ruth Willard Douglas.
