Freestone County, Texas Obits [This is Ruth Evelyn daughter of Charles B. & Anna Kate Shealy Willard.] Bowers Funeral Home website Ruth Willard Douglas (March 29, 1922 - January 5, 2007) Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Douglas were held on Sunday, January 7, 2007, at 3pm in the chapel at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Mrs. Douglas passed away on Friday, January 5, 2007 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Mrs Douglas lived in Teague for about twenty years. She was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church and very active in many church activities as long as her health permitted. She loved to work in her yard, especially to grow roses and was an avid quilt maker as well as being skilled at other hand works. She and her husband were volunteers for Meals on Wheels for several years. She is survived by her husband, Lewis Douglas of Teague; five step-sons; one step-daughter; two sisters Virginia Willard Smith & husband Herbert of Utica, MS and Kathryn Dowe of Greenville, MS; one brother, Kenneth B. Willard of Troutdale, OR; numerous nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Jane Swain of Madison, MS and Jennifer Cain of O'Fallon, MO. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles G. Mrs. Douglas was born on March 29, 1922, at Crystal Springs, MS and passed away on Friday, January 5, 2007, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Mrs. Douglas was a homemaker and had lived in Teague for approximately 20 years. She was a faithful member of the Eighth Avenue Baptist Church where she was very active. She loved yard work, especially roses and was very good at making quilts and other handwork. She was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels while her health permitted. She is survived by her husband Louis Douglas of Teague, five step-sons and one step-daughter, her sisters Virginia Willard Smith and husband Herbert of Utica, MS and Kathryn Dowe of Greenville, MS, her brother Kenneth B. Willard of Troutdale, Oregon, numerous nieces and nephews including Jane Swain of Madison, MS and Jennifer Cain of O'Fallon, MO. She was preceded in death by her brothers Charles G. Willard and Billy Wayne Willard. Bowers Funeral Home of Teague was in charge of the arrangements.
