Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder - Jan. 1, 1892 issue Died-At his residence three miles east of Mexia, in Limestone County of pneumonia, Dec. 24, 1891, Mr. John J. Dunbar aged about 40. The deceased was well known in this county, having been a resident of this county all his life until moving to Limestone a few years ago. He was born in Alabama and came to this county with his parents when a small boy. He was a son of the J. D. Dunbar of this county, who died last spring. The deceased was a good, industrious farmer, an honest hard working husband and a Christian man. He was a member of the Baptist church, not really one who had his name on the church roll, but was one who took a lively active interest in the necessary business affairs of his church; attending its annual and quarterly and monthly business meetings. His loss will be especially felt in the church where his membership was. His death in the meridian of life just as he was getting his family in comfortable circumstances was indeed sad and painful and is a great loss to his wife and little children. Besides them he leaves to mourn his loss, an aged mother, two sisters and one brother. His remains were brought to Fairfield for internment and laid to rest on Christmas evening.
