The deceased was one of the oldest citizens of Freestone county, and was well known to many of our oldest citizens. He came to this county with his father from Tennessee many years before the war when quite a young man, and for several years was a leading business man in Fairfield, being in the drug business with his brothers. He was quite an intelligent, sociable gentleman, and always had a pleasant word for his friends. At one time he was a man of means, but of late years had been quite unfortunate in his business affairs. The deceased left a wife and several children, also an aged mother, two brothers and two sisters to mourn his loss. Peace be to his remains.
