OBITUARIES
Dr. Benny Jack Eppes


Memorial services for Dr. Benny Jack (Doc) Eppes, D.D.S., 77, were held on 
Monday, July 6, 2009, at the Freestone Community Center. Bro. Jack Comer will 
officiate. 

Dr. Eppes was born in the Davidson Hospital in Teague, and graduated from Teague 
High School with the Class of 1949. He attended Sam Houston State university in 
1952, served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956, and graduated from 
the University of Texas Dental School in 1962. Dr. Eppes owned his own private 
practice from 1962 to 1979 in Rosenberg and was anAssociate Professor of 
Dentistry at the University of Texas from 1973 to 1986 and was a member of Psi 
Omega Dental Fraternity. 

He is survived by one son, Bruce Benton Eppes; two daughters, Cynthia Diann 
Eppes and Amy Catherine Eppes Chibib; two grandsons, Andrew Daniel Chibib and 
James Davis Chibib; Tommie (Sally) Eppes Craig & husband Joe Tom; sister-in-law, 
Nelda Jean Youngblood Eppes; Muriel Knight and the "Coffee Bunch". 

Dr. Eppes was preceded in death by his father, John Manning Eppes; his mother, 
Susie Madeline Gilliam Eppes; and brother, John Dale Eppes.
