Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder - September 24, 2009 edition Harold Ray Eppes Funeral services for Mr. Harold Ray Eppes,83, were held on Wednesday, September 23 at Bowers Funeral Home. Interment followed the service at Union Cemetery near Freestone. Bro. Billy Reed of Cowboy Heritage Church officiated. Visitation was on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Eppes passed away September 21, 2009 in Fairfield. He was born on August 23, 1926 in Freestone, Texas to William Lonnie Eppes and Cora Ophelia Collins Eppes. Mr. Eppes served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Japan for two years. He worked at Dow Chemical in Freeport for 35 years as a warehouse coordinator. Upon retiring at age 53, he relocated to Teague to fulfill his lifelong dream of ranching. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Faye Eppes; three children, Katrina Thomas and husband Max of Euless, Harold Wayne (Turk) Eppes and wife Pam of Magnolia, and Gina Geisendorff and husband Bubba of Conroe; Seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Bob Denton and wife Billie and Bill Denton and wife Dorothy, all of Angleton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Eppes was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and three brothers. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Teague High School, 420 N. 10th Street, Teague, Texas, 75860 for the H. R. Eppes FFA Scholarship Fund or to the Cowboy Heritage Church of Fairfield, P.O. Box 1001, Fairfield, Texas, 75840 in memory of H. R. Eppes.
