Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper March 15, 2008 edition June Elizabeth Evans Funeral services were held last week for June Elizabeth Evans, 89, of Teague who died Monday, March 3, at Fairview Nursing Home in Fairfield. A former resident of Lufkin and Porter, Mrs. Evans had lived in Teague for over 20 years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church for over 55 years and had served as a Sunday school teacher and bible study leader. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 7, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Burial followed at Brookside Cemetery in Houston. Mrs. Evans is survived by sons Robert Evans and wife Barbara of Teague, Perry Evans and wife Donna of Lufkin, and Grayson Evans and wife Patricia of Evergreen, Colorado; grandsons Joel Evans and wife Olga of Mexia, Michael Evans and wife Deborah of Groesbeck, Mark Evans and wife Pamela of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Malcolm Evans and wife Misty of Houston, Brent Evans and wife Allison of Sanibel, Florida, Brad Evans and wife Shelley of Evergreen, Colorado, and Blake Evans and wife Becka of Sanibel, Florida; granddaughter Liza Evans Hagler and husband Todd of Groesbeck; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; and cousin Winnie Sumpter of Sulphur, Louisiana. Interment was held later that day at Brookside Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Evans passed away on Monday, March 3, 2008, at Fairview Nursing Home in Fairfield. She had been a resident of Teague for over twenty years, but formerly lived in Lufkin and Porter. Mrs. Evans was a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church for over fifty-five years. She taught Sunday school in Lufkin, Porter and Teague as well as being involved in other church ministries through the years. She also organized and led a home Bible study in Teague for several years. Mrs. Evans is survived by her sons Robert Evans and wife Barbara of Teague, Perry Evans and wife Donna of Lufkin and Grayson Evans and wife Patricia of Evergreen, Colorado; her grandsons Joel Evans and wife Olga of Mexia, Michael Evans and wife Deborah of Groesbeck, Mark Evans and wife Pamela of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Malcolm L. Evans and wife Shelley of Evergreen, Colorado and Blake Evans and wife Becka of Sanibel, Florida; her granddaughter Liza Evans Hagler and husband Todd of Groesbeck; seventeen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; cousins Winnie Sumpter of Sulphur, Louisiana; numerous other relatives and friends.
