Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [This is Ann Elizabeth (Lee) Evans w/o William W. Evans (25 Mar 1822- 5 Jan 1886)] The Fairfield Recorder, Jan 8,1886; Freestone County Phase One, p. B-37 DIED---At the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. J. H. McIlveen, in Fairfield, Texas Jany. 5th, 1886, Mrs. Ann E. Evans, aged about 65. Mrs. Evans was an old resident of Freestone County, having come here from Alabama several years before the war. She lived for a long time near Butler, and for several years resided in Fairfield. She had been in declining health for a year or more; and in the last few months had been failing rapidly. Her death was not unexpected, and did not take her unawares. It had no terrors for her and she calmly awaited the solemn end, knowing it was not far off. The deceased was a pious, Christian lady, and a consistent member of the Baptist church. Besides many relatives and friends she left several sons and daughters to mourn her loss-- two of her children, Mr. J.C. Evans and Mrs. J. H. McIlveen, being residents of our town. Her remains were interred Wednesday in the Fairfield Cemetery, Elder E.J. Brown, officiating.
