[Submitted by Judy Purcell on 22 May 2006.] Obit for Tom Turner Evans FAIRFIELD RECORDER - August 1972 edition Funeral Rites Held August 7 for Tom Evans Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 7 for Tom Turner Evans, 62, lifelong resident of Freestone County. Bro Woodrow Ivy conducted the services at Capps Chapel with interment following in Fairfield Cemetery. Mr. Evans was born June 21, 1910, in Freestone County and died suddenly Aug. 7. He resided in the Butler community in the eastern part of the county where he and his wife, Gladys, operated a grocery store for many years. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Peggy Ann Tedrow of Hurst; two sisters, Mrs. Jo Ann Woodyard of Bryan, Mrs. Marcell Dysart of Cotulla; one brother, Wood Evans, of Palestine' three granddaughters and four nephews. Pallbearers were Jerry Robinson, Gerald Woodyard, Thomas Woodyard, Tolbert Casey Jr., Charles Evans and Kenneth Turner. Capps Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
