Interment to follow in the New Zion Cemetery in Fairfield under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home of Palestine. ------------------------------------------------------------------ The Fairfield Recorder newspaper - Thursday, July 13, 2006 edition Annie Lee (Johnson) Fantroy Funeral services were held Saturday in Fairfield for former Fairfield resident Annie Lee Fantroy, 96, of Fort Worth, who died July 2. Mrs. Fantroy was born February 24, 1910 in Freestone County to Herman and Mealie Johnson, the third of eight children. She attended Fairfield schools, and later completed training as a dietician aide and nursing home and custodial care. Mrs. Fantroy married Dixie Fantroy on October 26, 1928. After his early death, she raised her four children single-handedly, learning the duties of farming as well as continuing her household duties. She never remarried. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church in Fairfield, with Rev. Sammy McGuire officiating. Burial was at New Zion Cemetery. Mrs. Fantroy is survived by her daughters, Herma Dee Fantroy-Grayson and Mae Dell Fantroy-Willis; sister, Rosie Pearl Johnson; sisters-in-law Rutha Mae Jones and Mirtie Mae Pope; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a son, Wilbert Fantroy; brothers Earl Johnson, James Johnson, Arque Johnson and Joe Johnson, Jr.; sisters Beautil Bell Johnson-Stevens and Lorine Johnson-McDaniels. Arrangements were made by Emanuel Funeral Home.
