Fairfield Recorder - 22 March 1918 edition R. Q. Farquhar R. Q. Farquhar Western Union operator at Mexia fell dead a few minutes after reaching the office last Friday morning. He had opened the office, swept the floor and sent two messages before death struck him. An auditor for the company and the messenger boy were present. A physician was on the scene within two or three minutes but Mr. Farquhar had expired. He once lived in Teague and moving from here to Streetman where he was an agent for the Valley Road for several years. Recently he moved to Mexia to become operator for the Western Union. He is survived by his wife and a sister, Mrs. G.C. Ward of Teague and one child.
