Freestone County, Texas Obits Naomi Ernestine (Winfrey) Ford Mexia Daily News newspaper - Aug 5, 2006 edition Obituary for Saturday, August 5 Ernestine Ford WACO - Naomi Ernestine Winfrey Ford, 70, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services will be this afternoon (Saturday), Aug. 5, 2006, at 2 o’clock in Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Waco. Ernestine was born in Teague on Dec. 23, 1935, to Leon Maloy Winfrey and Minnie Lee Liles Winfrey. She lived in Fairfield for several years, then moved to between Teague and Mexia and lived at what was known as Midway. She married Hugh Mack Ford on April 16, 1954, and they moved to Waco in 1957. They were blessed with three daughters. Ernestine was a Homemaker until her children were up in age, and then she worked in the public until she retired from Texas State Technical College in 1998. She was involved in school, community and church activities, and was the president of the Parent-Teachers Association where she also served as treasurer. Ernestine was a member of the Brazos Valley Cloggers, and she obtained her floral design certification from TSTC. She loved traveling with her husband, and she was a member of the Red Hat Society, Bellmead Chapter, the Red Hot Mamas. Ernestine enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her friends, and was a member of Timber Crest Baptist Church where she served on various committees and taught the third and fourth grade Sunday School for 32 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and Nanny. Ernestine is survived by her husband of 52 years, Hugh Mack Ford; daughters - Susan Gail Blake of Hewitt, Peggy Lynn York and husband Aaron of Chalk Bluff, and Vicki Lee Sanders and husband Mike of Whitehouse; a granddaughter, Katrina Nicole Blake of Hewitt; grandsons - Jeffrey Gordon Sanders and Scott Michael Sanders of Whitehouse; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Aubrey Sipes of Jacksonville, and family; and a sister-in-law, Louise Wigley of Austin, and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Timber Crest Baptist Church in memory of Ernestine Ford.
