Freestone County, Texas Obituaries James Arthur "Little Black" Forge, Sr. May 5, 1919 to January 28, 2014 The Angelic Hosts came for Mr. James Arthur “Little Black” Forge, Sr., 94, on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in Parkview Regional Hospital, Mexia among loving family and devoted friends. A Viewing was held on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe Street, Teague, Texas. Funeral Services were at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Williams, Pastor of Kingdom Fellowship Bible Church, Teague, Texas officiated. Interment followed at Grove Island Cemetery in Teague, Texas. James Arthur Forge, Sr. was born May 5, 1919 to the parentage of George Forge and Vera Williams Forge in Freestone County, Texas. He grew up in Freestone County and attended Furney Richardson Public Schools. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas and helped build many churches in Odessa. James married Ruby Lee Steen and four children were born to this union: Annie Earl Forge, James Arthur Forge, Jr. Mary Magdalene Reese, and an infant child who died at birth. In 1949, Mr. Forge married Jaunita Scott Forge in Vernon, Texas and this union lasted 43 years. James was a farmer in Freestone County. He was also a truck driver for Acme Brick Co. in Midland, Texas and retired after 30 years. He enjoyed talking about hauling bricks from Teague to Midland to build churches. His hobbies were fishing, baseball, camping, cleaning his trucks, walking, eating, and singing gospel songs. James moved back to Freestone County in 2007 to be close to his family. Everyone who knew him called him “Granddaddy”. He’ll best be remembered for his smile. Preceding him in death are: 3 children: Annie Earl Forge, James Arthur Forge, Jr., and an infant daughter; his wife: Jaunita Forge; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters: Georgia Mae Forge, Vera Forge, and Banita Forge. Those left to cherish his memory most are: his daughter: Mary Magdalene Reese, Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren: Gregory Reddic and wife Kela, Teague, TX; Jacqueline Carr and husband Fred, Mexia,TX; Scott Reddic, Osburn Reddic, Victor Forge, Stephanie Forge, and Harold Banks, all of Dallas, TX; Perry Banks, New Orleans, LA; Special Friend: Hattie Mae Gilmore, Odessa, TX; many great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and host of family and friends.
